|
We intend to set up a network of research groups in Europe to apply for funding from the EU 6th Framework-Information Societies Technologies (IST) Programme in the priority thematic area of Micro, Nano and Optoelectronics The network will comprise some of the leading research, academic and industrial groups in Europe, all working in the field of Dilute Nitrides focusing on both Physics and Technology. The main research topics we intend to cover are, (1) Physical properties of dilute nitrides (Theory and experiments concerning electronic transport, e-e and e-phonon interactions, effective mass, band calculations and measurements, optical characterization, radiative and non radiative processes, structural properties). (2) Growth technology of dilute nitrides (Nitrogen incorporation technology, tuning of the operation wavelength of dilute nitride based optoelectronic devices in the 1,3 -1.6 um range). (3) Theory, design, fabrication operation and modelling of optoelectronic devices (F-P, VCSEL and DFB Lasers, LEDs, SOAs, VCSOAs, Modulators, Photodetectors and RCEPDs, High gain devices).
