Summary on Grant Application Form |
The project is aimed at introducing schoolchildren and members of the general public to the basic science of-..music and illustrate how modern research is contributing to the study and development of musical'instruments. A travelling roadshow consisting on hands-on exhibits, with associated talks and displays, willvisit primary schools, secondary schools and science festivals. Participants will be able to study the natureof their own speaking and singing voice using a spectroscopic display, and to see how acoustic pulses can beused to visualise the inside of a trumpet. Surprising air flow patterns around organ pipes will be madevisible using laser beams.
