Summary on Grant Application Form |
The DAPPLE project will generate substantial amounts of laboratory and field experimental data. We will assist in the experimental design to ensure that the experimental results will be viable for the development and evaluation of mathematical models for flow and dispersion within and near urban canopy, in general and particularly near intersections. We will develop operational and research oriented models, and scientifically evaluate them. The widely used urban air quality model ADMS-Urban will be used as a base-line for new development and evaluation. We will devlop theoretical descriptions of the spatial and temporial variability observed in the DAPPLE experiments and study the relevance of these to new E.C. regulations and to the statistics of personal exposure .Our active research collaboration in the US with (with Mass. Inst. of Tech. (MIT)) and with European groups will be exploited to mutual benefit!
