Summary on Grant Application Form
For a number of years there has been an enormous amount of work by the astrophysic community, including personnel at Queen's University, on the calculation of diagnostics and their application to astronomical phenomena. It is now well established that such diagnostics allow useful information to be derived for astrophysical plasmas. However can astrophysical diagnostics also provide information on laboratory plasmas? In this proposal we seek funding to answer this question. Should this 'proof-of-concept' research prove successful, it will pave the way for the application of astrophysical diagnostics to a whole range of laboratory plasmas within the EPSRC remit.
