Summary on Grant Application Form |
The approach to be adopted in this research programme is to establish a portfolio of e-business research themes in the form of four PhD programmes which will be co-ordinated by the Principal Investigator who will have overall responsibility for developing the integrated e-business modelling toolkit. The overall research challenge is to create a set of techniques which will enable Internet-based business models to be depicted, analysed (including, to an extent, optimised) and finally prototyped for a particular supply chain situation. These new e-business modelling techniques will need to encompass the information model (including issues such as information transparency, concurrency and integration), the operational model (including issues such as marketplace consortia, supply chain dynamics and demand amplification) and the business model (including issues such as inter-organisational power, profit models and scaleability). The interaction and collaboration for the research will involve leading providers of e-Business systems and specific supply chains in sectors such as automotive, aerospace and consumer electronics. Four integrated workprogrammes have been devised to address the modelling issues across the full e-Business development lifecycle from business model development through prototyping to simulation and evaluation.
