|
Platform Grant funding is requested to underwrite the future of the largest remaining soils research laboratory in the UK, and one of the most influential worldwide. The Platform Grant will provide support for post-doctoral, technical and part-time lecturing staff to ensure the continuity of expertise in the laboratory that will be vital for the continued success of the group during a period of staff re-newal. In particular, the Platform Grant will enable the group to retain key laboratory researchers at the end of their current funding. The staff employed on the Platform Grant will develop new avenues of research, building up collaborative links with the leading international research groups in each chosen area of research. They will also contribute to the up-grading of the main soils research laboratory at Imperial College. These developments will ensure that Imperial College is able to be a focus for national and international collaborative research.
