Summary on Grant Application Form |
The Development of Lean Aerospace research programme is concerned with the development of a methodology for aerospace companies to benchmark their current performance and progress through a systematic improvement process to achieve a lean and competitive business. The major deliverables from the work will be the creation and partial validation of such a process, with its enabling tools and practices. This embraces all the elements needed to improve all aspects of a business including manufacturing, human factors, design and new product introduction. The extension project is aimed at finalising a supporting computer base training, CBT, system, the development of a teaching case study to implement and assess such training and the finalisation of the supply chain management studies. The results of the total Lean Aerospace project will be thoroughly disseminated to the collaborating companies and to a wider industrial and academic audience.
