The proposed llvIRC will draw together the work of several established research Centres and Groups to tackle emerging industrial themes while strengthening the core academic programme. Initially the themes will include:Structuring and Managing hitemtional Supply Networks. Rapid Technology Acquisition and Deployment. Manufacturing Knowledge and Communication.The characteristics of the UARC will be an integrated and industrially focussed approach to manufacturing; the proposed arrangements will enable: Informed evolution of research themes through an Industrial Futures programme, industrial consultation and academic networks.Active management of industrial engagement across major corporations and SMEs. An integrated programme of industrial application, capture of examples and dissemination.The llvIRC will seek to extend the emerging multi-disciplinary community in the field linking technology, operations, strategy and policy and building bridges between education, research and practice.
