Summary on Grant Application Form |
The requested funding will enable a strategically planned programme of applied research for the construction sector. This will be achieved by defining six research themes that will provide continuity of funding for current research projects and new opportunities for innovative, exploratory projects. The six themes are: (i) Techniques for productivity and process improvement; (ii) Knowledge management and organisational learning; (iii) Human resource management and the culture of the industry; (iv) Innovative procurement; (v) Building engineering services integration; (vi): Seed corn research. The first five themes will provide continuity of funding for established researchers with planned research programmes. The sixth theme will provide support for research ideas that are not yet recognised to be potentially useful to industry. As the research centre matures, it is envisaged that the designated research themes will change. The research conducted will be shaped and justified with reference to the research agendas published by CRISP, DETR and Foresight. Full use will be made of a Management Board with extensive industrial representation. An International Scientific Advisory Panel will ensure that the unfolding research agenda is benchmarked against international research agendas.
