Summary on Grant Application Form |
The course will offer interdisciplinary training for graduates in the Physical Sciences to pursue a research career in the study of nanomaterials. The aim will be to provide the students with the training and experience necessary for them to be able to confidently apply their core skills as physical scientists to the study of nanomaterials and associated nanotechnology. This will be achieved through a structured lecture programme covering the essential elements of modern nanomaterials science, training in core synthetic, characterisation and modelling techniques, and personal transferable skills, taken simultaneously with an extended research project. Projects will be jointly developed and supervised by two members of staff with either an experimental and a modelling component in each project or a project that crosses traditional departmental boundaries.
