The fundamental problem of quantum mathematical statistics is to study the ways how a more complete knowledge of quantum states can be inferred from the results of quantum measurements. This task cannot be performed only by means of classical mathematical statistics due to fundamental incompatibilities and irreducible uncertainties of quantum empirical data. The quantum estimation theory, which originated in the 70's, treats only very special models for statistical inference in quantum theory, and totally neglects the asymptotical problems of quantum efficiency and large deviations.The VF and principal investigator are in possession of mutually complimentary expertise to attack these problems. VP Belavkin pioneered the study of the efficiency for Cramer-Rao bounds and solved the optimization problems related to quantum efficient estimation of several parameters, and D Petz published a book on quantum entropy and knows the background of asymptotical problems in noncommutative probability.Asymptotical methods in quantum probability and noncommutative statistics is a huge perspective area. The above indicated objectives of this proposal are modest compared to these perspectives, and will lead to definite results within half a year. (To create a comprehensive theory from the expected results is more subtle and could be the programme of a longer project.)
