Summary on Grant Application Form |
Significant and escalating pressures on the vehicle sector, relating to the effects of exhaust emissions on air quality and on the upper atmosphere and the effects of rising fuel costs, have led to considerable research activity into alternative fuels and alternative means of propulsion. Battery and fuel cell powered vehicles have significant potential. However, due to the multidisciplinary nature of the enabling technologies, UK research is being carried out in a relatively fragmented manner. The FABIAN Network will assist in co-ordinating research activities, in both academia and industry, by providing a forum for technology dissemination and for identifying technology gaps, and by contributing to the setting of a national research strategy, and provide ar educational role, by the organisation of workshops, colloquia and specific training initiatives.
