Summary on Grant Application Form |
Qualitative representation and reasoning has been successful in dealing with 'one-dimensional' knowledge. However, only in very abstract application domains knowledge is limited to a single dimension. Spatial regions and datalknowledge bases usually change over time, agents in mufti-agent systems may have their own knowledge bases which change under actions, etc. To reflect these interactions, a number of combined knowledge representation formalisms have been proposed in the 1 990s. The computational behaviour of combined systems can differ drastically from the behaviour of their components. The main aim of this PhD projecct is to conduct a systematic research of the computational complexity of various reasoning tasks for description logics with temporal, action, and epistemic operators, as well as for spatio-temporal combinations of region connection calculus RCG8 and propositional temporal logic.
