Summary on Grant Application Form |
This proposal involves the design, and manufacture of a new family of hybrid organic/inorganic adsorbents (HOIAs) with tailored pore geometry and surface chemistry, and their evaluation as selective adsorbents. This project combines the expertise of the St Andrews group in the synthesis and characterisation of novel porous solids, and the expertise of the Edinburgh group in adsorption, and in the design of adsorbents. The main elements of the project are:1. Design of optimal HOIA for a hydrogen purification application.2. Synthesis of HOIAs to match the design requirements.3. Investigation of the effect of surface modification on adsorbent performance.4. Experimental evaluation of the adsorption performance of the HOIAs.
