Summary on Grant Application Form |
The genome mapping projects have led to identification of genes and a growing knowledge of their function. Alongside there has been recent progress in genetic engineering technologies, particularly in the areas of transfection, protein engineering and protein expression. These scientific advances have potential to make a major impact on tissue engineering. In the future, the integrated engineering of genes, cells, proteins and tissues will lead to novel ways of restoring organ functions and replacing tissues. The proposed Network will act as a catalyst for communication for up to 160 scientists and will deliver discussion workshops, scientific publciations, policy documents and collaborative project proposals in post genomic tissue engineering.
