Summary on Grant Application Form |
A study of the magnetic properties at the atomic arid subatomic level of the layered perovsldtes and double perovskites with NMR, synchrotron X-ray tic circular dk:hroism and temperature structural study is proposed. The materials are prospective candklates for applications in spin electronics and the study will contribute to a better understanding of the microscopic origin of their magnetic, magnebotranspoct and megneloelasttc properties.Prof. Kapusta's work would consist of (1) X-ray temperature structural study at Cracow of the samples obtained from Zaragoza and Warwick, (2) magnetic chacacbn of the samples at Cracow, (3) synchrotron X-ray magnetic ocular dichroism study of magnetism of the individual electronic orbitals (trends) at HASYLAB, Hamburg and BESSY, Berlin, (4) NMR experiments at St. Andrews, including measurements at the applied hydrostatic pressure. Support is only reqcrssted for part (4) but is vital for the continuaftn of the collaboration.
