Summary on Grant Application Form |
The analysis will use combinatorial tools, properties of permutations, graphs, matchings, duality theory and algorithms for generating permutations in ranking order to concentrate on the following:(i) Solving the unresolved variants of the assignment problem for special matrices, and in particular, for special Hankel matrices. This will include investigation of the maximum cardinality matching the problem for bipartite graphs corresponding to bivalent Hankel matrices and the assignment problem for such matrices.(ii) Finding and proving criteria for matrices which guarantee that the optimal solution which can be found efficiently.(iii) Investigation of properties of the optimal solution set of the assignment problem, with application to the parity assignment problem and to the best principal submatrix assignment problem.
