We have developed the co-ordination chemistry of triazacyclohexanes for several years. During these investigations we have found three areas of bio-inorganic interest. The proposed research shall develop these areas:1) Transition metal clusters can be prepared from simple triazacyclohexane complexes of Cr, Mn, Fe, Co or Ni with weakly co-ordinating ligands by the reaction with precursors to typical cluster bridges. Paramagnetic clusters could be studied by NMR of the rigidly co-ordinated triazacyclohexane.2) We want to study the hydrolysis of simple triazacyclohexane complexes or of the clusters from 1) as potential compounds for the delivery of essential metals into biological systems with an emphasis on chromium.3) Oxygen activation by previously prepared triazocyclohexane copper(I) complexes can be studied analogous to studies on larger ring systems by UV/vis and Raman spectroscopy.Keywords: Co-ordination chemistry, Bioinorganic chemistry.
