Summary on Grant Application Form |
The open problems on simple theories are some of the most significant outstanding questions in current research on pure model theory. Solutions to them are likely to have a considerable impact on applications of model theory outside logic. The proposal is to attack some of these hard problems by pushing forward what is known about the constructions and the model theory of generic structures and investiating the occurrence of these structures eleswhere in mathematics. The project brings together different strands of expertise in Norwich and Edinburgh and the RA would spend a year in each place.
