The requested 700MHz spectrometer equipped with Cryoprobes offers improved dispersion and affords an approximately 4 fold increase in signal to noise ratio compared to conventional probes allowing us to record experiments up to 16 times faster, or in the same time using only 1/4 of the sample. This level of sensitivity is not currently available anywhere in the world and would be better than that offered on a more expensive 800MHz spectrometer with conventional probes. For many projects where quantity of material is limited or solubility an issue, these advantages are crucial. The work undertaken by the requested equipment will advance our knowledge in methods of organic synthesis, chemical biology, supramolecular chemistry, molecular recognition, polyketide synthases, antibiotics, combinatorial chemistry, library generation and analysis, electroluminescent polymers, nano materials and inorganic chemistry.
