Summary on Grant Application Form |
To examine the mechanism, utility and synthetic scope of our recently discovered methodology for the desymmetrisation of meso-diols and the kinetic resolution of racemic alcohols using a new lanthanide(III) catalysed mono-functionalisation reaction. It is envisaged that the elucidation of the mechanism of the reaction by spectroscopic means and the development of desymmetrisation systems, both catalytic in chirallanthanide(III) compound and/or acylating agent, will be achieved.
