Summary on Grant Application Form |
There has been a great deal of activity in the fields of supply chain management and business networks; research conducted over twenty-five years has produced a sound academic understanding. The field of Supply Networks is newer and has been addressed only recently. There remains, however, a lack of conceptual breadth and depth in research which might lead to a better understanding of inter-organisational relations -as the manageable factor within networks; it is this lack of richness which the proposed Network seeks to address by bringing together a broad range of academic researchers, each with their own methodologies and literature bases. These researchers also bring their own practitioner networks (manyof them international), also based in areas not normally accessed by EPRSC work. The proposal is to provide the embryonic network, already formed as a Special Interest Group of the British Academy of Management, with a level of administration that will enable it flourish and develop dissemination and exploitation of its resources, providing actual benefits for its members and practitioner networks in a wide variety of sectors. The communications and activities within the network members should give rise to fresh research opportunities and proposals that would broaden the EPSRC understanding of the implications for managers involved in inter-organisational relations.
