The workshop has been running in its present form since 1998 and represents an expansion on the two previous meetings on Foundations on Multi-Agent Systems (FoMAS) organised by the steering committee of five UK-based academics who are leading exponents in the field. The latter workshops are a result of discovering that the breadth of interest in multi-agent systems stretches well beyond the foundational area, and a response to previous participants who expressed the desire to see a UK forum in which the full range of multi-agent system research topics could be investigated. UKMAS'2000 is to be held at St. Catherines College, Oxford.
