Summary on Grant Application Form |
A network consisting of chemical and mechanical engineers, chemists and electronics engineers from industry and academia will be formed in order to increase the awareness and profile of electrochemical engineering (ECE). The network will meet every six months to discuss problems of mutual interest and form fruitful collaborative groups which will lead to research consortia. A survey will be used to examine a SWOT of ECE in this country and review the impact that it may have on high growth industries such as micro and opto electronics, biomaterials, and energy generation and storage systems. In addition, the network will raise the profile of ECE in chemical engineering departments across the country and chemical engineering accreditation bodies. This will be reinforced by developing an ECE course which will be reorganised as a professional development course across a broad industrial base.
