Summary on Grant Application Form |
The meeting will provide an opportunity to assess the current status and future prospects of the tools, analytical techniques and modelling methods available for the engineer to deal with the structural integrity of cracked composite materials and structures in a quantitative manner. We will consider here Basic Research- longer term research and its contribution to the development and application of composite materials to safe long-life engineering structures well into the 21st Century.Invited speakers will review the current state-of-the-art and identify gaps in the portfolio of existing and proposed research studies to guide major issues to do with structural integrity of composite materials. They will present current results of ongoing research and development work. They will show how to exploit this new collection of information and experimental data by attempting to solve current problems in the optimisation of microstructure and structural integrity by intelligent composite processing and design, and physical modelling. The contribution of all participants through discussion, comment, and shared experience is considered a vital ingredient to a successful occasion.
