The University of Liverpool is one of the old British universities with excellent academic traditions and outstanding standards in teaching and research. This project will be based at the Department of Mathematical Sciences that incorporates divisions of Pure and Applied Mathematics, Theoretical Physics and Statistics & Operational Research. Over the years, the Department has established active links with schools in the Merseyside, Cheshire and North Wales. The Department has a very enthusiastic and extremely well-qualified team of members of staff who are keen to maintain contacts with schools and colleges, show exciting application of their research (in the form of public lectures), work with school pupils and students of sixth form centres within the Mathematics Club scheme and organise exciting and enjoyable Mathematics Challenge competitions. At present, we have all the above activities taking placeAt the Department, and we aim to build upon our success and to attract gifted and young people into exciting and challenging world of Mathematics.
