Summary on Grant Application Form |
Molecular oxygen is a cheap, clean and readily available oxidant that has received much attention in recent years, and there are numerous examples of aerobic epoxidation of alkene substrates, catalysed by Schiff base of bis(1,3-diketonato) metal (II) complexes. The central aim of this ROPA application is to investigate, for the first time, catalytic Co (II) mediated aerobic asymmetric peroxysilylation or hydration of unactivated alkenes. We will also investigate the potential of chiral Co(II) catalysts to produce optically enriched samples of peroxysilyl and alcohols by reductive kinetic resolution of racemic dialkylsilyl peroxides.
