Summary on Grant Application Form
The project will evaluate whether SIMPs 4 proposed solutions will provide MES with a total systems integration solution which will enable it to participate effectively as a full member of major systems engineering projects typified by the UK MoDs SMART procurement initative. These 4 solutions are:(a) to model the business and systems engineering process for risk and uncertainty management using Bayesian Belief Networks (BBNs) to support decision making about requirements /cost trade-offs;(b) to integrate current approaches to requirements engineering, scenario analysis and solution within a novel computational modelling environment to predict system performance under different design options;(c) to develop research on scenario-based requirements analysis for obstacles in interactive systems, dependency analysis techniques in enterprise modelling and cognitive work analysis to diagnose and assess human-machine performance; (d) to generate a necessary and sufficient set of scenarios as input to the first 3 solutions. The 4 completed solutions will be integrated with MESs current IVM method to provide a total systems integration solution.
