Summary on Grant Application Form |
This project is to design, to make and to optimise a single photon detector (Hybrid detector) in the far-infrared wavelength range, which has sensitivity and flexibility superior to the detectors available to date (single-photon detection is feasible). The device is vital for far-infrared astronomy, environmental science and low-temperature physics. The research on this project will result in further development of the technology for the fabrication of nanodevices.
