Summary on Grant Application Form |
A front-end to the Mathematica based solution-generator being developed on GR/L 30749 is to be researched. This will contain CAD features which will allow the user to input a diagram of the system to be analysed (either from an external file or as a new drawing), to identify loads/excitations, boundary conditions, material properties, and other information necessary for the formulation of the mathematical model, to build a tool for the generation of relevant schematics from the CAD-like model and for the discretisation of the problem (either physically or modally). An equation-of-motion deriver and a tool for the ordering of the equations of motion in a suitable form for the solution generator completes the front end. This will be followed by a rear-end interface which will allow the symbolic solutions to be presented in different ways, to provide a windowing environment for the display of the symbolic time-domain solutions (linking these to the original ODEs so that the user can visually assess the propagation of terms in the ODEs within the solutions) and a tool for the user to re-assess existing numerical data and input new data. This module will be completed by a graph plotting and graphical stability assessment tool.EngProg\
