Summary on Grant Application Form
This proposal is a study of ligand control in palladium catalysed allylic substitution. The regiocontrol of the substitution reaction has been observed to be subject to a memory effect when using tricyclohexylphosphine as the co-ligand.Optimisation of regiocontrol will be performed, as well as studies towards retaining the enantioselectivity of enantiomerically enriched allyl acetates.Applications of this chemistry towards a few useful synthetic building blocks are identified.Additionally, a speculative catalytic cycle is proposed where a substrate is electronically activated using palladium catalysed allylic substitution to achieve turnover in the chiral auxiliary.
