Summary on Grant Application Form
This proposal relates to Strathclyde University's MSc in OR, an existing course supported by EPSRC / predecessors for many years. It requests continuation of EPSRC support for 10 students within a class of 30, to attract a high-quality class of optimal size. The course has reputation as one of the leading OR MSc's, due to its: practitioner-orientation, action-based philosophy, academic rigour across the OR spectrum (and combining methodologies), and continued incremental development. The aim of this proposal is to continue providing MSc graduates appropriate to the OR profession for the next 5 years; to continue evaluation and improvement of content and delivery mechanisms; and to explore both innovation (e.g. joint teaching and Distance Learning), and replacing some EPSRC support for the next period of funding. Other expenses will be met by practitioners and/or the University, apart from a small contribution proposed to ensure the quality of the practitioner-provided workshops.
