Summary on Grant Application Form |
The main aim of the training package is to produce effective operational researchers capable of contributing to the United Kingdom's industrial and commercial competitiveness and quality of life. They will have a thorough grounding in the mathematical, statistical and computing methods used in Operational Research (OR). In addition, the scheme covers important application areas of OR and also uses case studies and management simulation exercises to develop students' skills in problem solving and project management. The modular training package is aimed at students with a first degree that includes sufficient mathematical content. The modular design enables students to study relevant material without repeating material they may have covered in their undergraduate degree. The proposal includes provision for modules with innovatory content and for the development of distance-based learning support. CATS points are allocated to the modules allowing great flexibility in the scheme.
