Summary on Grant Application Form |
There is growing interest in the personalised presentation of information and a number of techniques have been developed for presenting information dynamically for different applications. There are two main areas where these are used. The first is in the presentation of search results (where information is collected from a variety of different sources and presented to the user - and personalisation may be done to suit the user). The second concerns personalisation by information provider (where the provider tailors presentations for individual users - and personalisation is aimed at achieving the providers own goals). This proposal seeks to develop a general model for combining and integrating different types of personalisation, while taking account of some of the problems that can arise from interaction between different processes over information presentation. A framework will be developed in which different transformations may be applied by different processes without loss of coherence of information. A tool set will be created based on these techniques and the approach will be validated in two separate but interacting applications.
