Summary on Grant Application Form |
This project explores the potential of plate reactors containing thin layers of catalyst bonded to a heat exchanger surface to become viable alternatives to slurry reactors for the Fischer Tropsch process. A parametric study of the major reaction variables will carried out over a variety of catalyst coatings with the aim of identifying conditions leading to improved reaction rate, imp product spectrum and greater tolerance of excess hydrogen. A successful outcome on any of these would make a signi contribution to the field of gas-to-liquids technology, one of the most important areas of research in the hydrocarbons industry.
