Summary on Grant Application Form |
The proposed research will develop string theory on special holonomy manifolds. This will include the further investigations of exceptional mirror symmetry and the geometric engineering of quantum field theories in various cases. The generalisations of calibrated geometry that we have discovered using brane world-volume theories will continue to be studied and related to quantum field theory. Using (generalised) calibrated geometries and the properties of Yang-Mills theory and strings on special holonomy manifolds, we will further develop topological field theories.
