Summary on Grant Application Form |
The objective is to develop new kernel based methods for the recognition and classification of biosequences. Innovations include kernel methods which use query learning to sift biological datasets for the most informative examples, new kernels specific to the tasks which arise in biosequence classification, optimal windowing techniques (eg finds the best window on an amino acid sequence), methods for handling imbalanced datasets (which arise in the classification of micorarray gene expression data, for example).
