Slow dynamic behaviour is a gradual change in the magnetic state arising from thermally activated magnetisation transitions over finite energy barriers. Current simulations of slow dynamic magnetic behaviour are based on Monte Carlo methods and suffer from the disadvantage of either a lack of quantification of the time step or of assuming single isolated transitions, neglecting collective magnetisation reversal. The aims of the current project is to develop a new computational technique for simulating slow dynamic behaviour taking into account collective magnetisation reversal. The computational model will be applied to the problem of studies of magnetisation stability in longitudinal and perpendicularrecording media, which represents an important limitation in ultra high density recording, and which is of considerable scientific and technical importance.
