Summary on Grant Application Form
The condensate bank formed around a well producing gas condensate can drastically reduce the well productivity, requiring additional expensive wells to be drilled to maintain the production level. It is proposed to investigate the suitability of using ultrasonic radiation for reducing the flow resistance in this region by altering the phase distribution and flow characteristics. Flow visualisation experiments at simulated reservoir conditions, using high pressure glass micromodels, are to be conducted in this proof of concept project to evaluate the radiation impact on flow of the two phases in porous media. Limited core tests could be conducted also to quantify the results.
