Summary on Grant Application Form |
The aim of the project is to develop mixtures of dynamic probabilistic networks which model dynamic structure changes in the interactions between variables form physiological systems. There is an increasing interest in the connections between physiological processes. For example, during sleep, the processes is only partially known. Modelling the relationships between variables through a dynamic probabilistic network (DPN) structure is intuitive and has much explanatory appeal. There are various algorithms for estimating structure in a DPN. Most of these are heuristic search methods however and are aimed at producing a single static model which eaves many possible structures unexplored. We aim to develop methods for determining dynamically evolving structure and to compare this with methods whereby switches are made between different DPN models. All methods will be tested on a very large data base of biomedical data.
