Summary on Grant Application Form |
This proposal will address the fundamental challenges in the dynamics of multicomponent polymer systems, but will be of benefit in the commercial use of polymers. The studies of entanglement densities in polyethylene blends are of direct relevance to molecular theories of rheology and diffusion and thus benefit the polymer processing industry. Valuable data and theoretical insights into blend and copolymer dynamics will be obtained at local length scales that will complement existing information from thermal analysis and SANS. We intend to apply our NMR methods to understanding the order-disorder transition in block copolymers, which has to date, only been investigated in detail using scattering methods. Hence the research will provide local scale information for combination with that at longer length scales and thus be of value to the fundamental understanding of compatibility of NMR theory and experiment will be of benefit to a wider NMR Research
