Summary on Grant Application Form |
This project, based primarily on case study work in a number of industry sectors (including electronics manufacture, food and drink, and construction) aims to fill a gap in existing knowledge - namely how to implement performance measurement systems at team level that are aligned with company strategy and objectives and also individual and team reward systems. The need for this research was highlighted by our industrial collaborators. This gap in existing knowledge was further highlighted at the BPRC workshop held at Warwick on 10 May 1999 Teamworking - The Route to Successful Innovation. In summing up of the days discussions, Dr Fiona Steel concluded that we must give much further thought to how it (teamworking) can be sustained and measured. Therefore our proposal is timely. This Exploratory project seeks to document the experiences of a cross-section of UK companies who have experience in developing and deploying effective performance measurement systems at a team level. In order to do this a number of research instruments will be employed, including company visits, action research, exploratory research, literature research and the sharing of experiences from other projects and research groups.
