In connection with this project, at Heriot-Watt Professor Zhu will:(1) design the CdSe/ZnSSe strain quantum-compensated QD structures(2) explore the MBE self-organised formation of CdZnSe QDs on ZnSSe layers(3) fabricate the CdZnSe/ZnSSe strain compensated QD structuresthe department has assigned an EPSRC studentship to this work and the student will work with Professor Zhu learning the growth techniques and characterising the QDs by AFM and SEM as well as carrying out detailed studies of the optical properties of the structures.
