Summary on Grant Application Form |
The equipment would underpin the research of over 350 postgraduate and postdoctoral workers requiring advanced NMR spectroscopic facilities in the department of Chemistry. The requested CryoProbe would support a wide range of research programmes. These include:- Development of methodology for the synthesis of biologically active natural products and complex oligosacharides.- Molecular recognition and catalysis in solution, solids and at interfaces.- The chemistry and enzymology of polyketide synthases.- The development of practical methods for stereochemical control.- Natural products and functional macromolecules.- Aminoglycoside and glycopeptide antibiotics.- The mechanism of action of glycopeptide antibiotics.- Combinatorial Chemistry.- Development of stereo- and regio-selective catalysts confined within mesoporous silica and of the organometallic chemistry of cluster supported arene and arene-like compounds.- Silicon-based Control of Organic Reactions.- Methods for stereoselective synthesis using sulfur compounds.
