Summary on Grant Application Form
The objective of this EPSRC JREI research proposal is to fully develop the use and applications of GC-IRMS analysis for compound specific D/H. Within the 1 year period of this proposed grant, the instrument would be fully commissioned and 3 complete research studies will be undertaken. These projects not only enhance existing multi-disciplinary research at the Queen's University of Belfast, but also prove the application of routine GC-IRMS d/H alongside GC-MS-IRMS analysis and EA-IRMS analysis planned for these 3 research studies. The overall long-term contribution of this EPSRC JREI bid to the research infrastructure at both the Queen's University of Belfast and within the UK is the use of compound specific D/H analysis in tandem with other isotope applications for contaminated land and groundwater studies in the UK. The Queen's University of Belfast welcomes collaboration from any research group in the UK who wishes access to this facility.
