Summary on Grant Application Form |
The proposed pilot project will deliver unique instrumentation (a high-pressure polarisation preserving optical cell with multiple ports) that will enable, for the first time; sequential or simultaneous acquisition of advanced spectroscopic data. It will be particularly well suited to Raman, Rayleigh-Brillouin and fluorescence measurements up to pressure in excess of 20 kbar over a range of temperatures. To our knowledge this capability does not exist anywhere in the world and will provide substantial new scope for fundamental and applied liquid state and soft condensed matter research.
