Summary on Grant Application Form |
It aims for the first time to incorporate a novel jet cooling device into the static SIMS experiment. More radically it will explore the application of the cooling and proton cationisation features of the MALDI experiment in static SIMS while not contaminating the sample with a MALDI matrix. The overall aim is reduced molecular fragmentation and enhanced molecular ion yield.
