Summary on Grant Application Form |
The development of radical based methodologies is usually dependent on the use of chain conditions to minimise by-products and thus limits development of synthetically useful intermolecular processes. The application of heterogeneous (solid-phase) techniques enables such reactions to be carried out under non-chain conditions. Following on from highly promising preliminary work we intend to explore the addition of radicals to a wide range of solid-supported acceptors. Application to the construction of novel glycopeptides will illustrate the potential this methodology has for applications in the production of biologically important molecules.
