Summary on Grant Application Form |
Images having already been obtained by Scanning Tunnelling Microscopy and Atomic Force Microscopy at a gold surface of redox proteins, we intend to extend this study to cytochrome P450 and its associated proteins to ascertain the mode of binding of one protein to another and to investigate electron transfer to each protein and to the protein-protein complexes. When successful, similar studies will be made of azurin-nitrite reductase and cytochrome c-cytochrome c oxidase. It is intended to explore condition under which the phenomenon of resonant tunnelling is observed whereby an enhancement of the Scanning Tunnelling Microscopy occurs when them proteins or enzymes are engaged in electron transfer at the gold surface.
