Summary on Grant Application Form
The centre for research in Information Storage Technology has on-going EPSRC research programmes connected with Objectives 1 and 2. In particular, advice on the development of theoretical models will enhance our understanding in these areas. Replay heads with asymmetric field functions are candidates for future high density digital video systems. The dual spin-valve may succeed the present GMR spin-valves due to its reduced thermal noise spectra and superior performance. These applications require advanced theoretical modelling to optimise their contribution to magnetic recording performance. The VF will contribute to these activities.
